Tonisteig (Hochtausing) — via ferrata in Wörschach

Hochtausing · Wörschach, Steiermark

A well-protected, at times quite exposed route up the Hochtausing above Wörschach. The climbing takes barely 45 minutes, but the approach from the Schönmoos car park runs over two hours via the Schneehitzalm — a hunting closure in the Tausingkar rules out the direct line. The descent down the east flank is loose and slippery in places, yet together with the approach it makes a fine traverse of the whole mountain. A note on the name: the brochure ties this route to the Hechlstein, but every source we checked places it on the Hochtausing.
