Mindelheimer Klettersteig — via ferrata in Oberstdorf

A classic line along the Schafalpenköpfe ridge, which carries the German–Austrian border. The full day means nine hours and 1,650 metres of ascent, and the standard approach starts in Mittelberg in the Austrian Kleinwalsertal.

Gear and requirements

Harness, via ferrata lanyard with an energy absorber (EN 958) and a helmet. The route is unstaffed with no rental at the start — bring your own gear or hire it down in the valley.

Tickets: Free to enter — the route has no ticket office and no staff.
