Klettersteig Wolkensteiner Hag und Wolfspfad — via ferrata in Wolkenstein

Two linked lines in the face below Wolkenstein castle: seventy metres of ascent on rungs, with a view over the Ore Mountains. An hour including the approach and descent.

The Wolfspfad is graded B and the Wolkensteiner Hag C; the crux comes just below the exit.

Free access, but only in season. Season: March – October.

The route is unstaffed and free to enter — the months below are the guidebook season. On the non-Alpine crags it is damp and ice that decide rather than altitude; after rain the limestone and sandstone can be unclimbable.

Gear and requirements

Harness, via ferrata lanyard with an energy absorber (EN 958) and a helmet. The route is unstaffed with no rental at the start — bring your own gear or hire it down in the valley.

Tickets: Free to enter — the route has no ticket office and no staff.
