Via Ferrata Enrico Ricci — via ferrata in Pietracamela

Follows the north ridge of Corno Grande to its eastern summit (2903 m), just above the famous Paretone — a wall over 1000 m high. The most dangerous sections are cable-protected; Rifugio Franchetti at its foot belongs to the CAI Rome section.

Free access, all year.

Unstaffed, no ticket booth. Usually accessible daily in summer; in autumn (September–October) conditions tend to only suit weekends.

Gear and requirements

Harness, via ferrata lanyard with an energy absorber (EN 958), helmet; a short dynamic rope is useful on the grade-II chimney when descending via the normal route.

Tickets: The ferrata is free. The approach can be assisted by the Ovovia della Madonnina lift from Prati di Tivo, if it is running that season — check with the operator before you go.
