Burgstall - Klettersteig — via ferrata in Pürgg

Grimming · Pürgg, Steiermark

A short, easy via ferrata on the Burgstall wall below Pürgg, renovated in 2019, facing the Grimming massif. The approach from the free car park takes five minutes, which makes it a good half-day or a first taste of via ferrata. The descent leads down to Pürgg with its St John's chapel and twelfth-century frescoes, closing a pleasant loop. Bergsteigen.com names the drawback itself: a busy main road runs right below the wall and you hear it throughout. Sources disagree on the length — 150 m on bergsteigen.com, 350 m on the regional portal; we keep the official figure.
