Ferrata HZS Kyseľ — via ferrata in Letanovce

Słowacki Raj · Letanovce, Košický Region

The longest ferrata on this list and the most famous gorge in the Slovak Paradise. Kyseľ stayed closed from the 1976 fire until 2016, when the mountain rescue service reopened it as a secured route: 1,470 metres of ladders, rungs and cables past four waterfalls — Barikádový, Kaplnkový, Karolíniho and Obrovský, where the ladders run right beside the cascade. The crossing itself is two hours and 180 metres of gain at grade C, but the approach from Čingov or Podlesok takes another four — budget six to eight hours in total and start in the morning. Above the gorge stand the ruins of the Kláštorisko charterhouse.
