Nonnensteig — via ferrata in Jonsdorf

One of the longest via ferratas in Saxony, built in 1994 on the south-west ridge of the Nonnenfelsen: ladders, bridges, vertical sections on towers and a rope bridge over a cleft.

Season and hours

Free access, but only in season. Season: May – October.

The site is closed for the winter (OpenStreetMap records "closed November to February") while the guidebook season starts in May. We took the narrower of the two.

Gear and requirements

Harness, via ferrata lanyard with an energy absorber (EN 958) and a helmet. The route is unstaffed with no rental at the start — bring your own gear or hire it down in the valley.

Tickets: Free to enter — the route has no ticket office and no staff.
