Ferrata Giovanni Lipella — via ferrata in Cortina d'Ampezzo

A long ferrata on Tofana di Rozes, starting at Rifugio Dibona with a series of iron rungs inside a tunnel carved entirely by Italian Alpini troops in WWI (120 m of elevation, 500 m long). It continues through sections of moderate technical difficulty with a few harder spots, to a summit with views over the whole Ampezzo basin.

Season and hours

Free access, all year.

Unstaffed, no ticket booth. Even in summer, above 3000 m snow and ice can occur — the route has no fixed season, only conditions.

Gear and requirements

Harness, via ferrata lanyard with an energy absorber (EN 958), helmet, headlamp (mandatory in the Galleria del Castelletto, a WWI tunnel).
