Ferrata delle Trincee — via ferrata in Rocca Pietore

Dolomiti (Gruppo del Padon / Marmolada) · Rocca Pietore, Veneto

Follows the Crepe de Padon ridge facing the Marmolada massif, through WWI positions: trenches, galleries, makeshift shelters and exposed crossings. It starts from Passo Fedaia with a steep, arm-intensive section, then follows the ridge to the Mesolina area with views of the Marmolada glacier.

Free access, all year.

Unstaffed, no ticket booth. Summer season; the ridge can still hold snow before August.

Gear and requirements

Harness, via ferrata lanyard with an energy absorber (EN 958), helmet, headlamp — the route passes through two WWI-era tunnels (one 150–200 m long).

Tickets: The ferrata is free. An alternative start is the paid cable car from Arabba to Porta Vescovo, which removes the approach entirely.
